BIOGRAPHY OF VICE-CONSUL EDGAR B. BADAJOS
Vice
Consul Edgar B. Badajos is the new Philippine Vice Consul to
Toronto, Canada. A
relatively young Foreign Service Officer, he joined the career
Foreign Service Officers’ Corps in January 1997. His posting
to the Toronto Philippine Consulate General, which exercises
consular jurisdiction over the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba,
and Saskatcehwan, is his first foreign assignment.
He currently holds the rank of Foreign Service Officer,
Class III.
Vice Consul Badajos obtained his Bachelor
of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the
Philippines. He is also a candidate for a Master’s degree in
International Studies from the same university.
Prior to joining the Department of Foreign Affairs, Vice
Consul Badajos worked as legislative staff officer for
Congressman Domingo Tuzon of the 3rd congressional
district of the Province of Cagayan.
From 1992 to 1995, he worked as senior legal research
associate for former Supreme Court justice and, later, Justice
Secretary Serafin V. Cuevas. And from May 1995 up to January
1997, he served as legal assistant for Senator Miriam Defensor
Santiago.
Only three (3) years in the Department of
Foreign Affairs, Vice Consul Badajos has written several
information materials on the Philippine passport. Foremost of
these is a book entitled, “Passport Guidebook,” for which he
has been awarded a special citation by the Department of Foreign
Affairs during the Independence Day celebrations in 1999.
The said book now serves as the bible-of-sorts of all the
Philippine diplomatic posts and missions abroad.
Vice Consul Badajos is married to the
former Ms. Maria Ruth R. Lopez of Naga City and they have two
(2) children.
